Meet Kuldeep, first year graduate engineer
We met up with Kuldeep, graduate systems engineer, who joined the graduate scheme earlier this year.
In her spare time, Kuldeep enjoys reading with a cuppa, cooking and DIY. Kuldeep’s favourite place in the world is her family home in north India.
What do you consider to be your greatest achievement?
My greatest achievement would be completing11 GCSE’s in just four months. This was due to moving to England from Punjab in the middle of my GCSE year, which meant I had a fast track four-month period before taking my exams.
Another achievement was during my final year of university, where I had the opportunity to act as a project manager and engineer for the British Model Flying Association (BMFA) Challenge and IMeche Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) Challenge 2017. This involved producing a medium-sized unmanned aircraft vehicle to compete in two international competitions.
What was your route into General Dynamics UK?
I studied Aerospace Systems Engineering at Coventry University and have always been fascinated by aircrafts. The Company seemed a good fit for me, particularly with General Dynamics UK providing avionic capabilities for the Apache helicopter. I was intrigued by the opportunity to learn more, with the possibility of working on similar future projects.
What does your role entail?
Since joining the Company two months ago, I have been working on the EvO project as a graduate
systems engineer within the ‘manage’ team. I enjoy working within the Company as everyone is helpful and friendly and there is a positive atmosphere which makes every day enjoyable.
What are your future plans?
My current plan is to work on getting a driving licence and getting through my upcoming graduation ceremony! In the future, I would like to attain a postgraduate degree in Mechatronics to further develop my knowledge.
