Armed Forces Covenant
In September 2013, General Dynamics UK was delighted to sign up to the Armed Forces Corporate Covenant.
The Corporate Covenant was designed to complement the Armed Forces Covenant and sit alongside the Community Covenant but has since been incorporated into a single Covenant. The Armed Forces Covenant sets out the moral obligation of society towards members of the Armed Forces community. It enables businesses and charitable organisations to express their support, and commit to ways in which they can provide that support.
As part of the commitment to the Armed Forces Covenant, General Dynamics UK has formed an Armed Forces Network for employees – meeting each quarter as an open forum lunchtime session to encourage employee’s engagement with the covenant and to discuss ways to further support the armed forces community. Awareness of the covenant is also promoted via visits and briefings by members of the armed services.
To show support for the Armed Forces community, General Dynamics UK regularly supports Armed Forces charities, including ABF – The Soldiers’ Charity, Combat Stress, Help for Heroes and SSAFA. We also actively support events such as Reserves Day and Armed Forces Day with the #SaluteOurForces campaign.
Did you know… In 2017, General Dynamics UK earned the Ministry of Defence Employer Recognition Scheme’s Gold Award.
General Dynamics UK supports service veterans seeking employment, as well as offering support to existing employees undertaking Reserve service with up to four weeks paid leave and cadet instructors with up to two weeks paid leave.
