Security and Resilience
General Dynamics UK designs and supplies security and resilience systems across the port, oil and gas sectors as well as border security and deployable surveillance solutions for civil government and security forces. The complex systems integration expertise of our UK facilities means that General Dynamics UK offers a strong and diverse capability in this area.
We understand that protecting a nation’s borders and critical national infrastructure doesn’t just mean keeping them secure from attack. It means ensuring they are resilient enough to continue operating through and after disasters and emergencies.
Our security and resilience solutions are:
- Scalable – from a single facility to a networked regional or national installation
- Flexible – using fixed and mobile systems to adapt to the changing threat
- Effective – supporting decision makers and giving crucial time to react
- Automated – providing tools to improve the speed and quality of response
General Dynamics UK is trusted to deliver entire solutions; working in partnership with clients to identify threats, design, develop and implement efficient responses, train users and provide valuable through-life support.

Back to topKylmar
Kylmar is a world leader in the design and manufacture of video imaging and surveillance systems for military and security applications. The company offers extreme quality, reliability and performance in all of its products.
Kylmar supplies electro-optic equipment and systems into the UK military intelligence and Special Forces for counter terrorism applications. The company designs and manufactures equipment, specialising in highly capable electro-optical systems deployed for long periods of time, often operating in harsh environments, where high reliability is essential to a successful outcome. Kylmar has fielded systems operating in temperatures ranging from -40ºC to +70ºC, from green sea state to desert sandstorms.
Facial identification at long range in harsh conditions is a key operational tool, and Kylmar’s long range starlight systems are proving effective in battlefield, counter terrorist and Homeland Security applications. Kylmar systems are often geo-referenced and can be built into wider surveillance networks. They provide real time imagery which can be transported via fibre or microwave for subsequent analysis and manipulation including onward transmission using low bandwidth paths. The very high target acquisition accuracy enables precise target evaluation when cued from other sensors such as radar, seismic or acoustic devices.
Kylmar’s products and systems also have many applications in other military, paramilitary and civil arenas. To date, Kylmar has provided solutions for tactical targeting, border surveillance and base protection roles and products have recently been procured in volume for long range commercial identification requirements.
