January 27th 2012 - General Dynamics UK showcases its capabilities at Security and Policing 2012

London – General Dynamics UK will showcase its leadership in security and resilience solutions atSecurity & Policing 2012 (Stand E59) which will be held at the FIVE event venue in Farnborough,Hampshire between the 31st January and the 2nd February. In addition to demonstrating its capability in

protecting critical national infrastructures, General Dynamics UK will be demonstrating its commandand control room solutions for emergency services, and its wide range of imaging solutions for border, coastal and general surveillance. General Dynamics UK will also sponsor the Security InnovationAward run by industry representative body A|D|S for the third year running. The award will beannounced on the first night of the Security & Policing 2012 show.

Protecting Critical National Infrastructure

General Dynamics UK has a 50 year pedigree in protecting critical national infrastructure around theglobe, from borders, airports, commercial ports and communications centres to some of the largest oiland gas installations in the world. Key facilities currently protected by General Dynamics include theShell Pearl GTL facility in Qatar, the NESTE Oil NExBTL plant in Singapore, Khalifa Port in theUnited Arab Emirates, as well as London Heathrow Airport in the UK and Vancouver InternationalAirport in Canada. Representatives from General Dynamics UK will be on-hand to explain its systemsintegration approach.

Emergency Services Control Rooms

General Dynamics UK’s emergency control room approach is based around a fully integratedcommand and control system that enables operators in any emergency service to react to scenarios in arapid and controlled manner and, most importantly, coordinate with other emergency services. Inaddition to the emergency control room scenario that the company’s experts will be running, GeneralDynamics UK will also demonstrate two new security-focused software applications, GeoSuite™ and3D GIS. GeoSuite™ is a web-based, multimedia common operating system that allows users at alllevels of operations to collect, report and share information. It improves situational awareness andfacilitates collaboration and information-sharing and analysis between users. GeoSuite is designedspecifically for users such as police officers, rescue workers, field agents and volunteers. It providescritical information across the full spectrum of operations and connects users in the field to leadership, supervisors and analysts in the operations centre. The user interface is customisable and providesimmediate access to critical near real-time information, data sensor feeds and historical data.

General Dynamics UK’s 3D GIS (Geographic Information System) software tool highlights thecompany’s approach to systems integration for telecommunications and security systems. With theintroduction of the 3D GIS tool, the benefits of an integrated system can be further leveraged as entirefacilities can be scanned, mapped and geo-referenced to build a virtual 3D model of all assets, allowing the user to see a detailed virtual representation of his facilities and surrounding environment.

Surveillance Solutions

General Dynamics UK will also be demonstrating three of its surveillance imaging solutions. The first, the Portable Situational Awareness System (P-SAS), is the larger of the three camera systems ondisplay. It provides a portable situational awareness capability for periods of time ranging from onehour upwards with 360o day, night and all weather capability. Based on field-proven technology, thesystem has been integrated and packaged to be rugged, quick to assemble even in low light conditionsand simple to use. Typical time into service when unpacked is less than 20 minutes. The P-SAS can becustomised to suit mission-specific objectives including an optional laser range finder, infrared (IR)pointer device and alternative power sources such as vehicular power, intelligent battery packs or evenpower from portable solar panels. Its design flexibility enables P-SAS to be used for a number ofchallenging roles including persistent surveillance and vehicle-based reconnaissance.

The Short Range Situational Awareness System (SR-SAS) is a smaller and lighter camera system thatcan be carried by hand and provides situational awareness with colour, low-light monochrome andzero-light thermal recognition and identification.

The Modular Situational Awareness System (M-SAS) provides a patrol ultra lightweight surveillancesystem. It provides interchangeable colour, low-light monochrome and zero-light thermal recognitionand identification. It is designed for dismounted operations and flexible uses.
