September 22nd 2009 - General Dynamics UK – the one-stop-shop for containerised solutions
General Dynamics UK has launched www.tacticalshelter.com, bringing together in a one stop shop all information about the containerised solutions offered by its specialist companies Anteon, Page Europa and PageTel.
The website features information about General Dynamics UK’s containerised solutions, which will be supplemented over time to incorporate more detailed information about the entire range, such as technical drawings and specifications of all products.
General Dynamics UK Limited offers over 30 years experience of providing self-contained solutions in either steel or aluminium to military and civil organisations around the world, and are currently working with the UK’s Ministry of Defence, NATO and NATO allies.
The expertise of General Dynamics UK Limited’s subsidiaries has been instrumental in its ability to respond to recent Urgent Operational Requirements (UORs) rapidly and efficiently. General Dynamics UK Limited is one of the few contractors with proven ability to deliver capability and performance to such tight deadlines.
Advanced containerised solutions from General Dynamics
General Dynamics UK Limited now has extensive design, manufacturing, assembly, and testing capabilities for containerised solutions throughout the UK and Europe. These turnkey solutions range from satellite ground stations, communications facilities and tactical data centres through to field sanitation and hygiene units and the recently announced Bulk Medical Storage Facility (BMSF) which is being assessed by the UK’s Ministry of Defence..
All units are built to rigorous standards, including the full range of NATO specifications. On-site capabilities include everything from initial metal cutting through to equipment installation and testing. With these capabilities, General Dynamics UK Limited delivers the ability to put important and advanced facilities where they will do the most good, and do it quickly.
Here are some of the solutions that General Dynamics UK Limited can deliver effectively and rapidly:
Welfare units, which are essential to troop morale and wellbeing on the front line. In addition to ensuring that troops have access to proper sanitation and hygiene in theatre through the provision of showers, toilets etc, General Dynamics UK Limited continues to innovate, helping its customers reduce the financial and environmental impact of these units through improved efficiencies in water and power usage. General Dynamics UK Limited leads the way in efficiency for such welfare units, achieving daily reductions of 78% in the amount of water used, 95% power usage for lighting, and 95% in fuel to power each unit.
Force protection units provide multi-layer force protection, including persistent surveillance, in theatre using a range of integrated sensors and systems integrated by General Dynamics UK Limited thanks to its expertise in ISTAR, security and resilience. These force protection units will operate at Forward Operating Bases (FOBs), Main Operating Bases (MOBs) and key tactical installations. 25 Force Protection units were ordered from General Dynamics UK Limited by the UK’s Ministry of Defence in February 2009.
Ground stations are transportable information processing systems which receive and process in-theatre, raw, wideband data down-linked from a whole range of sensors. Thanks to General Dynamics UK Limited’s capabilities, it can integrate the systems that disseminate warnings, alerts, and cueing information on tactical events of interest throughout the theatre using existing communications networks.
Command and Control units typically operate as dispatch center, surveillance monitoring center, coordination office and alarm monitoring center all in one. As C4I is one of General Dynamics UK Limited’s key strengths, its customers can be assured that its C2 unit will deliver the best performance when it matters, where it matters.
Bulk Medical Storage Facility (BMSF), the first of which is currently being tested by the UK’s Ministry of Defence, is a high-tech temperature-controlled medical storage facility which will help military medics save lives on the frontline. Under a £2.9M, four-year contract awarded in April, a further 13 will be produced once the MoD tests have finished, and could be on the frontline as early as next summer.
“FOB in a box”, the provision of a complete solution for Forward Operating Bases, from welfare unit to command unit in one unit, combines all the above capabilities and more. General Dynamics UK Limited now also caters for this growing trend.
