September 9th 2009 - General Dynamics on display at DSEi

London, United Kingdom – General Dynamics will display its capabilities as a leading integrator of technology and systems, delivering decisive advantage for military and government customers, at DSEi, the Defence Sales and Equipment International 2009, in London’s docklands, 08-11 September 2009.

A number of formal media briefings will take place, with further interview opportunities for members of the media.  Throughout DSEi, the General Dynamics media teams will be available on stand 1855 and stand 2235.

Stand 1855 - General Dynamics UK, C4  Systems, Itronix and Electric Boat

General Dynamics United Kingdom Limited will demonstrate its capabilities as a leading systems integrator of C4I, Armoured Fighting Vehicles, security and resilience technology, and solutions enabling command and control for joint operations through information dominance.

  • C4I exports and AFV integration
    General Dynamics UK is the prime systems integrator delivering the UK’s flagship Bowman C4I system, which provides secure voice communications, a tactical internet and advanced situational awareness on operations to the UK Armed Forces. The company has established major export partnerships delivering tailored C4I and C2 systems for customers worldwide, including the Netherlands, new NATO countries, and emerging members of the international community in the Middle East and North Africa. As an independent, proven systems integrator, General Dynamics UK offers a unique set of skills, capability and experience in delivering scalable electronic architectures for Armoured Fighting Vehicles. Examples on the stand include a Cougar vehicle with full, scaleable electronic architecture.
  • Security & resilience
    General Dynamics UK has a global capability in security and resilience solutions, including deployable security command facilities, installation surveillance and protection for critical national infrastructures. General Dynamics UK has also developed urban ISTAR situational awareness capabilities, which enable pre-mission rehearsal planning for urban operations. It will also display configurable strategic and tactical shelter solutions for command and communications, together with the vital systems that enable personnel to live and work in hostile environments. Examples on the stand include the VESPer Urban ISTAR capability, and tactical shelter solutions.
  • General Dynamics C4 Systems
    General Dynamics C4 Systems will be displaying radios from the Joint Tactical Radio System Handheld, Manpack, Small Form Fit (JTRS HMS) program, as well as the HOOK2® Combat Search and Rescue radio system.
  • General Dynamics Itronix
    General Dynamics Itronix will be demonstrating a range of COTS rugged mobile computers. General Dynamics builds sophisticated computing and communications systems that enable continuous connectivity and trusted performance from core to edge. These rugged, mobile computers are designed to endure the harshest of environments, making sure that users on the edge get the data they need, when they need it.
  • General Dynamics Electric Boat
    General Dynamics Electric Boat will display potential payloads for the U.S. Navy's newest class of submarines, the SSGN, as well as a history of the SSBN program in the United States. All 59 SSBN submarines that have served in the U.S. fleet were designed by Electric Boat, and most were built by the company, experience that will be crucial as the U.S. Navy considers replacement of the fleet of 14 Ohio class ballistic missile submarines. With more than a century of experience in the design, integration of advanced technologies and manufacture of submarines, no U.S. shipyard has built submarines longer, or built more of them. EB continues to be the premier submarine technology leader for the United States Navy.

Stand 2235 - General Dynamics European Land Systems

  • General Dynamics European Land Systems will display the PIRANHA IIIC in its ambulance configuration and the EAGLE IV with a remote weapon station and .50 cal machine gun.
  • PIRANHA IIIC Ambulance Configuration: The rear-compartment roof of the PIRANHA has been raised to provide more headroom inside the vehicle. A new electronically controlled stretcher system facilitates patient loading and unloading. The vehicle has capacity to care for up to three patients on stretchers or six patients seated. The operational effectiveness of this variant is enhanced by its battlefield management system, navigation system, self-recovery winch, arctic heater kit and passive night vision for the driver. This variant is currently in service with the Belgian army.
  • EAGLE IV with RCW Station: The armoured command variant will be displayed with the SAAB Trackfire remote control weapon (RCW) station and .50 cal. machine gun. This highly mobile vehicle, with a crew of 4 - 5 soldiers, offers outstanding protection against ballistic, mine and improvised explosive devise (IED) threats. Interchangeable automotive parts and components with DURO armoured or soft-skinned vehicles provide a cost-effective logistics commonality. This variant is currently in service with the German and Danish armies.
  • General Dynamics European Land Systems will display information on products and services offered by MOWAG GmbH, General Dynamics European Land Systems-Germany GmbH, Steyr-SSF GmbH and Santa Bárbara Sistemas, including:
    • SIAC towed howitzer 155/52 artillery system, which is currently in service in Spain and other countries.
    • ASCOD 2 with improved Battle Field Management, Vetronics, protection and Bowman C4I tactical communications system.
    • M109 155mm Howitzer with upgraded solutions that provide higher rate of fire at 3 rounds in less than 15 seconds, higher survivability due to dramatic time reduction in firing action and improved crew safety.
    • Ammunition: Santa Bárbara Sistemas willoffer a complete portfolio of small, medium and direct and indirect caliber, used by customers worldwide, including the U.S. Army.
