Application Process
How will I know you have received my application when I apply on-line for a job?
An e-mail is sent to you within 24-hours to acknowledge your application.
How long does General Dynamics UK keep my information on file?
General Dynamics UK Limited will retain the information on file for a period of 12 months, unless you become an employee. Please note that by submitting an application to us, you are agreeing to your details being processed and stored in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998.
What happens once I submit an application?
Your application will be reviewed by the recruitment team and suitable CVs will be forwarded to the hiring manager.
Will I hear from you if I’m not successful?
Yes. We try to respond to all applicants, so if you do not pass the review stage we will let you know by e-mail.
How will I know if my application is successful?
If you are successful, you will be invited to a telephone or face-to-face interview. For some vacancies, you may be asked to attend an assessment centre or to a second interview. Written confirmation of arrangements is always e-mailed to you.
How long do I have to wait for feedback after an interview?
We aim to provide you with initial feedback within 24 hours of your interview, along with an indication of when we expect to make a decision.
What happens if I am offered a job?
If you are successful, you will receive a verbal offer followed by a written conditional offer of employment. All offers are subject to satisfactory references, security clearance and medical requirements. The HR or recruitment team will keep in regular contact with you prior to you starting your new job.

Security Clearance
Why do I need security clearance to join General Dynamics UK?
The nature of our work with the Ministry of Defence and export markets is sensitive and often confidential. That means anyone joining us must go through a security check. This is standard practice for all companies working in our field of expertise.
What kind of security clearance is required?
The minimum security clearance required is to BS level (Baseline Standard Clearance) although most roles within General Dynamics UK require clearance to SC level (Security Cleared). For more information on security clearance, click here.
What will I have to do?
Once you have been sent your conditional offer in writing you will be asked to complete a form. We will use the information you provide to run a security check. The Baseline Standard Clearance requires information and documentation to confirm the identity, employment or educational history, nationality and immigration status and criminal record (unspent convictions only) of the applicant.
I currently hold SC Clearance. Can I transfer it to General Dynamics UK?
Yes, it may be possible to transfer you SC Clearance.
Can I start my job before my security clearance is confirmed?
No, employment with General Dynamics UK will not commence until BS Clearance has completed.
Will the information for competing BS or SC clearance be used for anything else?
Any information used in completing BS or SC Clearance is subject to the Data Protection Act and will not be used for purposes other than specified.
