Meet Mark – a member of our production team

We caught up with Mark, assembly operator, based in Merthyr Tydfil, who joined the production team earlier this year. Mark tells us about his involvement on the AJAX programme…

Mark joined General Dynamics UK in March 2017 as an assembly operator, working on the AJAX programme.

Currently, Mark’s role involves the preparation of vehicles for delivery to the Ministry of Defence (MoD), as well as working on prototype vehicles for trials. Based within the UK assembly, integration and test team, Mark is part of the team that will be responsible for delivering the vehicles to the MoD, including those built in the UK.

“Each day is different and provides variety.”

Typical day-to-day roles and responsibilities include working on the production standard vehicles and the retrofit of prototype platforms. This involves removing and refitting mechanical assemblies and electrical/electronic componentry to support vehicle modifications and upgrades.

“I joined General Dynamics UK for a good future due to the progression available – it’s a Company that is going somewhere.”

General Dynamics UK is expanding the newly-formed manufacturing team at our site in Merthyr Tydfil to support the assembly of AJAX – the next generation of Armoured Fighting Vehicles.

We’re increasing the size of our production workforce and are currently recruiting for a variety of roles ranging from operations that enable harness and electronic line-replaceable unit installation, to the heavy mechanical assembly typically found when building military vehicles.
