How do I apply for a vacancy at General Dynamics?

All of our current job vacancies are listed under the ‘Current Vacancies’ section on our website and you can apply online if a vacancy is of interest.

Once you click on ‘Current Vacancies’, this will bring up several boxes enabling you to search by various criterion to locate a suitable vacancy. If you wish to view all of our vacancies, please leave the search boxes empty and click ‘Search & Apply’.

Once you have identified a vacancy that you wish to apply for, please click to apply for the role – this option is located at the bottom of the job description. You will then by asked to provide a few brief details and upload a copy of your CV. Your application is then complete!

You will receive an email acknowledging your application within 24 hours.

Before making an application to us, please make sure that your skills and experience are relevant to the role. If necessary, please attach additional information supporting your application to your CV before uploading.

Please note that by submitting an application to General Dynamics, you are agreeing for your details to be processed and stored in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998. General Dynamics UK Ltd will retain the documentation and information on file for a period of 12 months, unless you become an employee.

What happens after I have applied for a vacancy?

When your application has been received it will be reviewed by the Recruitment Team and if appropriate, forwarded to the hiring manager responsible for the role.

If, at this stage, your application is deemed to be unsuitable for the role to which you have applied for, an email will be sent to the email address that you provided to us.

If we wish to proceed with your application, then you may be invited to a telephone interview or a face-to-face interview. For some vacancies, you may be invited to attend an assessment centre. We normally conduct the one face-to-face interview but on some occasions, you may be invited back to attend a second interview.

How do I know if I have been invited for interview?

If you are selected for interview, a member of the recruitment team will make contact with you to agree a suitable date and time for you to attend. Once agreed, written confirmation of the details of the interview will be emailed to you.

If you have a request for any special arrangements, please make sure the Recruitment Team are aware of these before attending the interview.

If for any reason you are unable to attend the interview, please make sure that you notify the Recruitment Team as soon as possible.

When can I expect a decision to be made following an interview?

We aim to provide you with initial feedback within 24 hours of your interview. We cannot commit to timescales as to when a decision is made as this depends on whether we have further interviews to conduct, however, you will be given an indication of the timescales for this at interview.

What is the process if I am offered a position?

Successful applicants will normally receive a verbal ‘intention to offer’ followed by a written conditional offer of employment.

You will be asked to sign and return a copy of the offer letter as well as other documentation relating to security clearance and general health and well-being.

All offers of employment are subject to satisfactory references, security clearance and medical requirements.

The HR/Recruitment Team will keep in regular contact with you prior to you starting with us.
